Library Reading Garden

Designed at the entry to the Dunedin Public Library, this underused space became a featured reading ‘garden’ – a place to enjoy a book and the surrounding landscape.  The garden features a group seating area for small groups to gather for performances or readings and features commemorative memorial bricks of the donors to the library.

Due to its very public location, the City of Dunedin requested a building that is both functional (the cupula hinges open for access to clean/maintain the well) and aesthetically pleasing in this downtown location.  We designed a traditional small "house" that accommodates its use and also quietly compliments its context.
