Our principal
Susan Packard Elftman is a native of the Tampa Bay area and is a Florida licensed architect and interior designer (Fl. lic. # AR91595 and ID6971), also holding architecture licenses in Georgia and North Carolina. She is nationally certified through NCARB and is a LEED Green Associate with over 25 years of experience in the southeast U.S. She has completed numerous custom designs over the years, including both new and historic renovations throughout Florida, as well as several homes and commercial buildings in the Biltmore Forest and Asheville, North Carolina area. Prior to this, Susan gained extensive experience with design and architectural production while working for architects in both Florida and North Carolina. She has a special concentration and personal affinity for modern design with clean lines and details that incorporates both new and traditional materials to create thoughtful spaces. She is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and believes the “greenest” way to build is to first consider the preservation of existing buildings whenever possible.
Susan is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the U.S. Green Building Council and serves on her local Historic Preservation Committee. Her education includes a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Florida as well as many years of practical experience. Additionally she holds a B.S. degree in Finance.
Over the years Susan has provided full-scope architectural services including feasibility studies, initial master planning, schematic design and construction documents, interior detailing/design and specification, and construction administration oversight throughout the construction process. Additionally, she is experienced in the design/build process. Her projects include residences, churches, museums, public spaces and commercial buildings. Her practice preference is for projects wherein design is paramount and the relationship she maintains with her clients is “hands-on” and built to last.
Susan has been recognized with awards from the Hillsborough County Planning commission and the U.S. Green Building council for previous projects, including receiving LEED Platinum certification – the first in Florida for a multi-family new construction project.
Susan holds certification as a minority business enterprise (MBE) with the State of Florida and the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority.
